The Rev. Barbara von Haaren - Deacon

Contact Barbara

In 1986 I was ordained deacon – my goodness that was a long time ago! Peter and I have been married over 40 years, and have 3 grown children and 3 very small grandchildren. Even though I am technically retired, I am the on-call chaplain for hospice and the hospital at the Mayo Clinic Health System Red Wing. I serve on the City of Red Wing Human Rights Commission,   and am very passionate about social justice, equal rights for all humans, and end of life issues. In my role as deacon at Christ Church, I am very involved with pastoral care, the liturgy, and working to achieve a stronger relationship between our city and our church. I like to think of myself as a watercolor artist, but the jury is still out on that one!
